How the planner works

Set how many nights you stay at each stop. I split the driving between stops into daily legs within your max driving time and suggest an overnight on the way, preferably a campsite that takes your vehicle according to OpenStreetMap. Two places out of three say nothing about it, so check the suggestion before you drive. Then the trip is totalled against your holiday length, and the route is drawn on the Map tab.

Improve the map

Every pin and road here comes from OpenStreetMap — a free, open map that anyone can edit. If an aire, campsite or dump station is missing, wrong or has closed, you can fix it, and the change flows back here at the next data update. Here's how.

! Quickest: leave a Note

  1. Open openstreetmap.org and find the spot.
  2. Click the speech-bubble icon (right toolbar) to add a Note — no account needed.
  3. Describe what's wrong or missing (e.g. "dump station here, 3 €") and post it. A local mapper picks it up.

✎ Edit it yourself

  1. Create a free account on openstreetmap.org.
  2. Find the place, click Edit — the beginner-friendly iD editor opens in the browser.
  3. Drop a point and pick a preset: Caravan/RV Site, Campsite or Sanitary Dump Station.
  4. Fill in what you know — name, fee, capacity, opening hours, whether there's a dump station.
  5. Save with a short comment (e.g. "added aire, visited July 2026").

Speed

90 km/h outside built-up areas. The list of exceptions in point 103 has no entry for trailers. A gravel or macadam road gives 80 (point 103.5), but that is a surface condition, not a trailer rule.

Dimensions — the only country that catches every combination in plain words

Latvia is the counter-example to everything above. Where the other countries wrote their dimension rules for goods transport and left the car outside, in Latvia the combination stands already in the heading of the annex:

"Permitted dimensions of vehicles (vehicle combinations) (with or without load), actual mass and axle load." That the combination is named in the heading is no accident. Point 194 enumerates what becomes subject to a permit if annex 2 is exceeded, and the third limb of the enumeration has no delimitation:

194. Ja kravas automobiļu, kuru pilna masa pārsniedz 3,5 t, autobusu un to piekabju, kā arī transportlīdzekļu sastāvu gabarīti ar kravu vai bez tās, ar noņemamo aprīkojumu (piemēram, iekrāvēju) vai bez tā, faktiskā masa vai ass slodze pārsniedz šo noteikumu 2. pielikumā minētos lielumus, atļauja braukšanai pa ceļiem jāsaņem normatīvajos aktos par lielgabarīta un smagsvara pārvadājumiem noteiktajā kārtībā.

Two of the limbs are delimited: lorries with a gross weight over 3.5 tonnes, and buses and their trailers. The third — kā arī transportlīdzekļu sastāvu, "as well as vehicle combinations" — is not. And what a transportlīdzekļu sastāvs is, the noteikumi define themselves, in point 2.28:

2.28. transportlīdzekļu sastāvs – mehāniskais transportlīdzeklis, kas savienots ar piekabi (puspiekabi), kā arī savienots velkošais un velkamais transportlīdzeklis;

"A motor-driven vehicle joined to a trailer (semi-trailer), as well as a joined towing and towed vehicle." No vehicle category, no weight limit, no reference to goods transport. A car with a caravan is a transportlīdzekļu sastāvs, and the annex's figures apply to it.

The annex moreover sets two dimensions that none of the other retrieved instruments expresses as precisely: the turning circle of 12.50 m outer and 5.30 m inner radius (point 4), and the distance from the foremost point of the load space on the car to the rearmost of the trailer, 15.65 m (point 6). The latter is a goods rule and does not touch a caravan.

The dimension is taken with load, and it says so twice. Both the annex heading and point 194 say ar kravu vai bez tās — with or without load, that is, the greater of the two states. Point 194 adds ar noņemamo aprīkojumu … vai bez tā, with or without removable equipment. The exceptions that exist do not touch caravans: 194.¹ concerns type-approved aerodynamic cabs and devices, the annex's point 17 measures car transporters empty, and points 18 and 20 give 15 cm extra for intermodal transport of 45-foot containers.

Method note. likumi.lv delivers the consolidated version as ordinary HTML at the same address as the base instrument, with the annexes in the same document — no JS shell, no API, no login. Each annex carries its own version marking in its heading, which is what makes it possible to state the version exactly. It is the simplest retrieval of them all.
