Short version: no cookies, no ad networks, no profiling, and no account. We cannot identify you, and we have not built anything that would let us.
Generic Constructions Stockholm AB, org.nr 556881-7943, Sweden, is the data controller for campeur.eu and fricampa.helenefors.se. Contact: kontakt@campeur.eu.
The site sets no cookies at all, which is why you are not asked to dismiss a
consent banner. Three settings are kept in your browser's localStorage
— they stay on your device and are never transmitted to us:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
campeur_lang | The interface language you picked. |
campeur_vehicle | Caravan, motorhome, car or motorcycle — so the planner remembers. |
campeur_mc_style | For motorcycles: ordinary roads or gravel-first routing. |
Clearing your browser data removes them. (Older keys prefixed
fricampa_ are read for backwards compatibility.)
We run GoatCounter on our own server at stats.campeur.eu — not a third-party analytics service. It is cookie-free and records the page visited, the referring page, rough screen size, browser type and the country derived from your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored. To tell one visit from another without cookies, GoatCounter derives a hash that is discarded and cannot be traced back to you.
We also count anonymous events: a route being planned, a GPX file exported, a map layer switched on, an ad being clicked. These are plain counters with no identifier attached — we can see that 400 routes were planned in a month, never who planned them, or to where.
The web server writes no access log. Your IP address is held in memory for a few minutes to enforce rate limits on the route planner, then discarded. It is never written to disk.
You can leave a comment on an individual place. There is no account and we ask for no name or e-mail — but a comment is different from the rest of the site, because you are the one deciding what goes into it.
| Stored | Why |
|---|---|
| Your text and the category you picked | It is the point of the feature. |
| Which place it concerns, and the date | So it can be shown in the right popup. |
| Interface language, and whether you ticked "I was there myself" | Helps judge how to read the report. |
| A salted hash of your IP address — never the address itself | To recognise a spammer across submissions without storing a personal identifier. |
Nothing is published automatically. Every comment is read by a human before it becomes visible, and most never do. Approved comments are public and shown to everyone who opens that place.
A machine reads it first, but never decides. To sort the queue, pending comments are sent to a language model (Anthropic Claude, run through AWS Bedrock in EU regions) which suggests a category — durable fact, uncertain, subjective, or junk. The suggestion is only a label shown next to the comment. It cannot publish anything, and a human still reads every comment before it becomes visible. The model is not trained on what you write.
It may end up in OpenStreetMap. If a comment reveals something durable and factual — a place has closed, a barrier is locked, the price changed — that fact may be used to correct OpenStreetMap. OSM is a public, worldwide database under the ODbL licence, and edits there are permanent and publicly attributed to us, not to you. Your text is not copied over; only the underlying fact.
Please do not write anything you would not want published: no names, no phone numbers, nothing about other people. If you do, we will most likely reject the comment — but write with the assumption that it will be read by strangers.
Rejected comments are kept briefly so the same spam can be recognised, then deleted. Legal basis is legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f): running a usable map and keeping it free of abuse.
Loading any web page reveals your IP address to whoever serves the files. On this site that means:
| Service | What it is for |
|---|---|
| tile.openstreetmap.org | The map background itself. OSMF privacy policy. |
| geo-netinfo.trafikverket.se | Only if the Swedish road-subsidy overlay is enabled. It is off by default. |
One processor never sees you, only your words: AWS (Bedrock, EU regions) receives the text of pending comments so a language model can suggest a category. It is sent from our server, not your browser, and carries no IP address of yours.
Until 10 August 2026 the Leaflet map library was loaded from unpkg.com, which therefore saw your IP address. It is now served from this site, so that third party is gone. The list above is the whole list.
Route calculation and place lookups work the other way around: your browser talks to our server, which then asks FOSSGIS (OSRM/Valhalla) and Nominatim on your behalf. Those services therefore see our server, not you.
There are no ad networks and no third-party ad scripts on this site. Sponsored map pins are plain entries in a configuration file we edit by hand, clearly marked as sponsored. They cannot see you and they set nothing in your browser.
Affiliate links are labelled as ads. If you click one, the advertiser may set a cookie on their site so a purchase can be credited to us. That happens on their side, under their privacy policy, and only if you click.
Sponsorship never influences which route the planner suggests or which overnight stops it picks. See Advertising.
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data. If you have not written a comment, we hold nothing that identifies you: no account, no cookie, no stored IP address. There is then genuinely nothing to locate — not a refusal, but a consequence of how the site is built.
If you have written a comment, that text is stored. Since we ask for no identity, we cannot look it up by name; tell us roughly which place and when, and we will find and delete it. A fact already corrected in OpenStreetMap cannot be withdrawn from there by us — OSM edits are permanent — but the fact recorded there is about the place, not about you.
Legal basis for the limited processing that does occur (rate-limiting IPs, aggregate statistics, moderating comments) is legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f): keeping the site available, knowing roughly how much it is used, and keeping user content free of abuse. You may complain to IMY, the Swedish data protection authority.
