Saved and shown while you navigate. Campeur does not route by them, but warns when your rig exceeds the limits of the country you enter. Weight is shown only: no country in our material sets a weight limit that binds a private rig.

How the planner works

Set how many nights you stay at each stop. I split the driving between stops into daily legs within your max driving time and suggest an overnight on the way, preferably a campsite that takes your vehicle according to OpenStreetMap. Two places out of three say nothing about it, so check the suggestion before you drive. Then the trip is totalled against your holiday length, and the route is drawn on the Map tab.

Improve the map

Every pin and road here comes from OpenStreetMap — a free, open map that anyone can edit. If an aire, campsite or dump station is missing, wrong or has closed, you can fix it, and the change flows back here at the next data update. Here's how.

! Quickest: leave a Note

  1. Open openstreetmap.org and find the spot.
  2. Click the speech-bubble icon (right toolbar) to add a Note — no account needed.
  3. Describe what's wrong or missing (e.g. "dump station here, 3 €") and post it. A local mapper picks it up.

✎ Edit it yourself

  1. Create a free account on openstreetmap.org.
  2. Find the place, click Edit — the beginner-friendly iD editor opens in the browser.
  3. Drop a point and pick a preset: Caravan/RV Site, Campsite or Sanitary Dump Station.
  4. Fill in what you know — name, fee, capacity, opening hours, whether there's a dump station.
  5. Save with a short comment (e.g. "added aire, visited July 2026").

Useful for campers

Speed

80 km/h outside built-up areas and on the Autobahn. A Tempo-100 plate gives 100 on the Autobahn. § 3 does not apply to the Autobahn — that figure comes from § 18 Abs. 5, which must be cited separately.

The passenger-car row is worth noticing: 2.50 m, not 2.55 — and it applies only to the car. The caravan is an Anhänger and falls under the general row of 2.55 m. The outfit may therefore lawfully be wider at the back than at the front, which is the opposite of the Danish rule (trailer at most 0.35 m wider).

The length question is now settled, and the answer is the lower of the two figures. Abs. 4 divides Züge into points, and point 3 expressly excepts point 4:

Point 4 is a lorry with a goods trailer (18.75 m) and point 3 b) is a Zugmaschine, a tractor unit in the agricultural sense. A car with a caravan is neither one nor the other but a Kraftfahrzeug außer Zugmaschine mit Anhänger — point 3 a), 18.00 m. The most-quoted figure, 18.75, is therefore wrong for this particular outfit, by 75 centimetres.
