Route planner — the whole holiday

List your stops in order — I'll split the driving into daily legs and suggest overnight stops along the way.

Trip settings

Only the places are needed. Everything below is optional and starts from a useful value.

Saved and shown while you navigate. Campeur does not route by them, but warns when your rig exceeds the limits of the country you enter. Weight is shown only: no country in our material sets a weight limit that binds a private rig.

How the planner works

Set how many nights you stay at each stop. I split the driving between stops into daily legs within your max driving time and suggest an overnight on the way, preferably a campsite that takes your vehicle according to OpenStreetMap. Two places out of three say nothing about it, so check the suggestion before you drive. Then the trip is totalled against your holiday length, and the route is drawn on the Map tab.

Improve the map

Every pin and road here comes from OpenStreetMap — a free, open map that anyone can edit. If an aire, campsite or dump station is missing, wrong or has closed, you can fix it, and the change flows back here at the next data update. Here's how.

! Quickest: leave a Note

  1. Open openstreetmap.org and find the spot.
  2. Click the speech-bubble icon (right toolbar) to add a Note — no account needed.
  3. Describe what's wrong or missing (e.g. "dump station here, 3 €") and post it. A local mapper picks it up.

Edit it yourself

  1. Create a free account on openstreetmap.org.
  2. Find the place, click Edit — the beginner-friendly iD editor opens in the browser.
  3. Drop a point and pick a preset: Caravan/RV Site, Campsite or Sanitary Dump Station.
  4. Fill in what you know — name, fee, capacity, opening hours, whether there's a dump station.
  5. Save with a short comment (e.g. "added aire, visited July 2026").

  • Dump stationamenity=sanitary_dump_station
  • Feefee=yes/no, charge=…
  • Access / barriers — a closed barrier=gate or access=private tells others whether they can drive in.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Cap in the app: 80 km/h.

Speed

80 km/h everywhere, motorway included, for motorna vozila koja vuku prikolicu za stanovanje (karavan) ili laku prikolicu. The point names the caravan with that word, lacks a motorway exception and requires no rear speed plate — the plate duty lists only points 1), 3) and 4). Without a trailer, чл. 44 applies: 130 motorway, 100 expressway and fast road, 80 other roads, 50 within built-up areas.

Source. Zakon o osnovama sigurnosti saobraćaja na putevima u BiH, "Službeni glasnik BiH" 6/06, чл. 46 ст. (1) т. 2). No consolidated version exists; the whole chain of amendments up to and including 35/26 of 2026-05-19 has been read act by act on sluzbenilist.ba. The built-up-area figure of 50 comes from 48/10 чл. 14 and is the only amendment that has touched чл. 44 or 46

Dimensions — point c) and point d), and the difference between them

Bosnia and Herzegovina builds the dimensions in two steps, like Romania and Serbia. The Zakon o osnovama sigurnosti saobraćaja na putevima u Bosni i Hercegovini (ZOSPC) чл. 203 says that vehicles in traffic must meet the prescribed conditions as to dimensions, gross weight and axle load, that vehicles that do not may be driven only with the permission of the competent ministry, and that the minister issues the detailed rules. The figures stand in the Pravilnik o dimenzijama, ukupnoj masi i osovinskom opterećenju vozila, o uređajima i opremi koju moraju imati vozila i o osnovnim uvjetima koje moraju ispunjavati uređaji i oprema u saobraćaju na putovima, issued by the minister of communications and transport under чл. 203 ст. 3 read with чл. 252, in concert with the entities' interior ministries and the Brčko district police.

Sources. The act: "Službeni glasnik BiH" 6/06, read in the Croatian version via the Wayback copy of mkt.gov.ba. The regulation's base version 23/07: mup.ks.gov.ba/node/258471 and mervik.ba, two independent copies that proved byte-identical. The amendments 54/07 from mervik.ba, and 101/12, 26/19, 83/20 and the act amendments 89/17, 46/23, 88/23 and 35/26 from the gazette's own database sluzbenilist.ba. All read 2026-08-08.

Neither instrument exists in a consolidated version. The regulation has been amended four times — 23/07 → 54/07 → 101/12 → 26/19 → 83/20 — and the act eleven times: 6/06, 75/06, 44/07, 84/09, 48/10, 18/13, 8/17, 89/17, 9/18, 46/23, 88/23 and 35/26 — where 46/23 moreover holds two separate amending acts adopted on the same day, one about чл. 235 and the other about чл. 238. Each amending act has been read separately and set against the articles carrying the dimensions and the speeds. The result of that review stands below the table, since it is what decides which figures apply.

DimensionBosnia and HerzegovinaArticle
Width, car and caravan2.55 mPravilnik чл. 6 ст. (1) a)
Height4 mPravilnik чл. 7 ст. (1)
Length, vehicle12.00 mPravilnik чл. 5 ст. (1) a)
Length, outfit18.00 mPravilnik чл. 5 ст. (2) c)

The outfit's 18.00 m is the document's second case of the German construction, and the clearest. Чл. 5 ст. (2) divides the vehicle combinations into four points, exactly as the StVZO divides Abs. 4 into its numbers. Point c) takes

skupovi vozila (motorna vozila sa jednom ili dvije prikolice) izuzev skupova vozila pod tačkom 4. ovog stava 18,00 m

— vehicle combinations, motor vehicles with one or two trailers, except those under point four of the same paragraph. Point d), that is, the fourth, is the one giving 18.75:

skupovi vozila koji se sastoje iz motornog vozila i jedne prikolice za prijevoz tereta, pri čemu djelimične dužine ne smiju prekoračiti […] 18,75 m

A motor vehicle and one trailer for the transport of goods, and only if the partial dimensions of 15.65 m and 16.40 m between the load spaces' outer points are observed. A caravan is not a prikolica za prijevoz tereta and has no load space to measure the partial dimensions on. It therefore falls under point c), and the outfit may be 18.00 m. It is exactly the same division as the German StVZO § 32 Abs. 4 Nr. 3 a) against Nr. 4, and it gives the same answer: the 18.75 that circulates as "the EU dimension" is in both countries reserved for a lorry with a drawbar trailer. Bosnia and Herzegovina thereby becomes the third country in the table at 18.00, together with Germany and the Netherlands — but only the second to get there Germany's way. The Netherlands reaches the same figure by the opposite route: art. 5.18.11 lid 7 has a point of its own expressly about a personenauto […] en aanhangwagen. Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina instead write a general point and break the goods trailer out of it, so that the car with a caravan remains in the main rule. Two routes, the same metre.

The point reference is incidentally a slip in the original: the paragraph has points a)–d), not 1–4, so "tačkom 4." must be read as point d). That is the only reading giving the paragraph meaning, since d) would otherwise be impossible to use without exception.

The scope question is answered here in plain words, and for foreign vehicles in an article of its own. ZOSPC чл. 204 says:

Motorna i priključna vozila registrirana u inozemstvu mogu sudjelovati u prometu na teritoriju Bosne i Hercegovine ako imaju ispravne uređaje i opremu, propisanu valjanom međunarodnom Konvencijom o cestovnom prometu, a glede dimenzija, najveće dopuštene mase i osovinskog opterećenja — ako ispunjavaju uvjete propisane za motorna i priključna vozila registrirana u Bosni i Hercegovini.

Foreign-registered vehicles may take part in traffic if they meet the conditions as to dimensions, gross weight and axle load applying to vehicles registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the cleanest answer to the scope question in the whole document: no other country writes out in so many words that the foreign road user's dimensions are measured against the host country's figures. In the same way the regulation's own exception is express and narrow — чл. 5 ст. (9), чл. 6 and чл. 7 ст. (4) each except BiH's armed forces and police vehicles of very narrowly specialised use. The car with a caravan is never named as excepted, for the simple reason that nothing is named as excepted except the military and the police.

The car's own width limit existed and was removed. Чл. 6 ст. (1) had a point e) setting 2.50 m for putnička vozila, cars. The amendment 26/19 чл. 3 reads in full "U članu 6. u stavu (1) tačka e) se briše" — the point is deleted. Since then the general 2.55 in point a) applies to the car too. Remaining among the exceptions are 3.00 m for agricultural and forestry vehicles and road-maintenance vehicles, 1.00 m for trailers behind motorcycles and 2.60 m for insulated bodies with walls over 45 mm. None of them reaches an outfit.

The measuring method is BAS ISO 612, and the country is alone in the table with it. The length is measured under BAS ISO 612, definicija 6.1 with a fourteen-point exception list, the width under definicija 6.2 with doors and windows closed and the wheels straight ahead and ten exceptions — among them customs sealing devices, elastic mudflaps under 91/226/EEC, mirrors, retractable steps, hydraulic lifts projecting at most 10 mm, tyre bulge on the road surface and indicators for tyre pressure and tyre damage — and the height under definicija 6.3, without flexible aerials and with pantographs lowered. The height rule moreover has a sentence no other instrument in the material has: чл. 7 ст. (3) says that for vehicles that can change height through a system in the axles, such as air suspension, that possibility of height change must be taken into account. The turning test in чл. 5 ст. (8) is the EU's, expressed as an outer radius of 12.50 m and a swept band of at most 7.20 m.

The speed is 80 km/h and applies everywhere. ZOSPC чл. 46 ст. (1) т. 2):

na 80 km na sat — za motorna vozila koja vuku prikolicu za stanovanje (karavan) ili laku prikolicu

Eighty kilometres an hour for motor vehicles towing a caravan or a light trailer. No motorway variant, no division by road type. The amendment 48/10 чл. 15 rewrote чл. 46 thoroughly — it added 40 km/h for towing and tractors, 20 km/h for tourist trains and working machines, 100 km/h for buses on the motorway and changed the rear speed plate from yellow to white — but did not touch т. 2). The duty to carry the rear plate moreover still lists only points 1), 3) and 4), so a car with a caravan needs none. The general limits in чл. 44 were reset by the same amendment: 50 km/h in built-up areas — it was 60 in the act's original version — and outside them 130 on the motorway, 100 on expressways and fast roads, 80 on other roads. For an outfit it is 80 that applies on all of them, since чл. 46 is the vehicle rule and чл. 44 the road rule.

A recent amendment that does not touch the figures but does touch the consequence. 35/26, adopted by the house of peoples on 14 May 2026 and promulgated 19 May 2026, introduces чл. 42a obijesna vožnja, reckless driving: among other things driving more than 40 km/h over the applicable limit within a built-up area or more than 60 km/h over outside it, or driving with more than 1.50 g/kg of alcohol. The penalty in the new чл. 234b is 2,000–3,000 KM, a six-month driving ban and two penalty points, and on repetition the vehicle may be seized on the spot. The same amendment introduces чл. 235a with 200–400 KM for using a mobile phone while driving and for not wearing a seatbelt. The amendment touches neither чл. 44, 46, 203 nor 204.

Method note. Bosnia and Herzegovina was the hardest source to reach in the whole document, and it is worth writing out why. The official gazette sluzbenilist.ba has a subject-indexed act list that can be read without a login, but the two acts from 2007 are not in the database — their pages return "Ovaj akt nije unešen na bosanskom jeziku" and an empty body, and the same holds when switching to the Croatian and Serbian views. It is therefore not a paywall but a gap. The communications ministry's present site mkt.gov.ba has removed its statute archive in its entirety, and its certificate is moreover issued for a different domain name. The act's full text survives only as a PDF in the Wayback Machine's copy of the ministry's old site — and that PDF is the original version of 22 December 2005, not the one in force, which appears only from its own closing reference. Reading it without checking the chain of amendments would have given 60 km/h in built-up areas, a figure changed in 2010. The base regulation was instead retrieved from two mutually independent registers — Canton Sarajevo's interior ministry and the legal archive mervik.ba — whose files proved byte-identical (MD5 ba9bc7dfcbd2c38a5e89775be76ab272), which is the strongest authenticity check available without an official publisher. The amendment 54/07 existed only in the latter, one click from a link a search engine had returned with the claim that the act did not exist separately. The amendments from 2012 onwards do on the other hand have full text in the gazette's own database, and that is where 101/12, 26/19, 83/20, 89/17, 46/23, 88/23 and 35/26 are read from. Two technical details for anyone redoing the work: the acts are set alternately in the Latin and the Cyrillic alphabet, so a search pattern on član misses 8/17 entirely, and the PDF text extraction used here loses diacritics, which means every search must be written diacritic-tolerantly.
