Lay your phone on the floor and the tilt sensor shows which wheel, corner or jockey wheel needs to go up, and roughly by how much. (In Swedish only so far.)

Improve the map

Every pin and road here comes from OpenStreetMap — a free, open map that anyone can edit. If an aire, campsite or dump station is missing, wrong or has closed, you can fix it, and the change flows back here at the next data update. Here's how.

! Quickest: leave a Note

  1. Open openstreetmap.org and find the spot.
  2. Click the speech-bubble icon (right toolbar) to add a Note — no account needed.
  3. Describe what's wrong or missing (e.g. "dump station here, 3 €") and post it. A local mapper picks it up.

✎ Edit it yourself

  1. Create a free account on openstreetmap.org.
  2. Find the place, click Edit — the beginner-friendly iD editor opens in the browser.
  3. Drop a point and pick a preset: Caravan/RV Site, Campsite or Sanitary Dump Station.
  4. Fill in what you know — name, fee, capacity, opening hours, whether there's a dump station.
  5. Save with a short comment (e.g. "added aire, visited July 2026").

Useful for campers

  • Aire / stopover — tourism=caravan_site

  • Dump station — amenity=sanitary_dump_station
  • Fee — fee=yes/no, charge=…

The wording in Abs. 6: "Die Abmessungen von Kraftfahrzeugen und Anhängern dürfen nicht überschreiten 1. eine größte Höhe von 4 m, 2. eine größte Breite von a) bei klimatisierten Fahrzeugen 2,6 m, b) bei allen anderen Kraftfahrzeugen und Anhängern 2,55 m, 3. eine größte Länge von a) bei Kraftfahrzeugen und Anhängern, ausgenommen Sattelanhänger, Omnibusse und Gelenkkraftfahrzeuge 12,00 m".

The outfit length does not sit with the other dimensions but last in Abs. 7a, a paragraph otherwise about gross weights: "Die größte Länge von Kraftwagen mit Anhängern darf 18,75 m, von Sattelkraftfahrzeugen jedoch 16,5 m nicht überschreiten." Kraftwagen mit Anhänger is without restriction, unlike the German division into Zugmaschinen and others — Austria therefore gives a car with a caravan the same 18.75 as a lorry with a trailer.

Note that the KFG has five different paragraphs marked (7a) in different sections. It is the first, in § 4, that is the dimensions paragraph.

Rules other than these. Alcohol limits, seatbelts, child seats, mobile phones, winter tyres and daytime running lights are not on Campeur and will not be. Do not read it for caravan speed — that cross-check has been made, and the portal was wrong in four countries out of twenty-one.
